Specifically, NAM fosters employee development and ensuring that employees are progressing in regards to their career objectives. Management is inclusive, soliciting input from individuals on all levels, and communication is relatively open across all departments.

10.  Any advice to juniors or seniors looking for an internship? My advice would be to understand what your prospects have to offer at various organizations. 6.      What types of projects/assignments did you work on during your internship? I worked to compile SSD production quotes from vendors, followed a couple of direct mail programs from start to finish in the production process, organized In-Store samples, and was the team leader on the Internship project.

7.      What was your favorite part of the internship? My favorite part of the internship was working on the summer long intern project. I was able to meet with various employees and interns from other departments and learn about NAM and its Operations. Our team produced a great presentation that we put so much work into and we were really proud to present at the end of the summer in front of the CEO and the Executive Board.

8.      What made you accept a full time position with NAM? I felt very comfortable accepting a full time position where I had interned and already knew so many people. I found that being an Intern made the adjustment much easier. I already knew so much about what my department did so it made the transition to a full-time position very smooth.

9.      What is your current position & responsibilities? I currently work as a Layouts Coordinator in the Operations department. I work as part of an issue team to produce Smart Source Magazine, a weekly publication. My responsibilities include maintaining programs, laying out the issues, and working with the printing facilities while ensuring client satisfaction and saving on printing costs.

10.  How would you describe the culture at NAM? NAM supports professional growth, either through training sessions, classes, or the mentor program. NAM encourages its employees to think about short term and long term goals, both within the employee’s current position and within the company as a whole. One of the company’s initiatives is to encourage involvement through social events like Birthday Socials, Tailgate parties, and Company Outings that help connect employees on a personal level, providing a sense of community.

11.  Any advice to juniors or seniors looking for an internship? Internships are a great way to gain professional experience while still in college. Not only can you apply what you’re learning in college to an internship, but you are provided with training and hands on experience in a well accredited company. NAM allowed me to meet so many people and it opened the doors to many opportunities, including landing my first full time job after college.

10.  Any advice to juniors or seniors looking for an internship?  Juniors or seniors should strongly consider the NAM internship program. I developed a great relationship with my manager and I see him often in the office. You learn a lot about the company by asking questions and observing what goes on around you. My experience as an intern was a strong influence in my decision to accept a full time position at News America Marketing.
