Marketing
The Marketing Department provides materials, information, strategic direction and consultative expertise to support company initiatives, focusing particularly on sales efforts. Marketing also supports the company’s employee-directed initiatives by providing materials for the college recruitment and training programs, employee events (including conferences), and benefits outreach. There are 3 departments within Marketing; Marketing Research, Marketing & Creative Services and Strategic Sales and Marketing Development.
Marketing Research- Provides data to help keep sales informed of the industry and their clients as well as helping sales with prospecting new clients. There are two groups within the Marketing Research department:

Planning- Handles all requests to assist in the selling and planning of FSI and in-store programs. Some of the tools available within the department are BDI (Brand Development Index) and SmartMatrix.

Business Information- Provides the resources to help learn about the industry and prospect new clients as well as the marketplace of clients. Some of the tools available within the department are Ad Spender, Nexis and SmartNet.
Market Research is located in Wilton, CT.
Marketing & Creative Services- Acts as an editorial, design and communication resource for all News America Marketing departments. They promote all News America Marketing products and services as well as communicate policies, procedures, client and employee events, and specific company initiatives. The department is broken up into two areas:

Marketing Services- functions as copywriters, proofreaders and project managers. The group develops both client and program-specific presentations, and works with Sales and Strategic Sales & Development to assemble and write content for all sales collateral. They also produce and manage the content of the B2B sites as well as designing the internal site, Passport. They work closely with the Legal department to register trademarks for all SmartSource programs, both in the U.S. and abroad; they also develop and publish standards for the trademarks' usage. Marketing Services works with the sales-support teams, including Human Resources and Finance, to create materials that support employee-directed initiatives including recruitment, training, benefits education and budgetary processes.

Creative Services- is comprised of designers and art directors who provide graphic and design support. They are responsible for working with Sales to translate client creative into effective in-store campaigns, designing and producing corporate and client-specific sales materials, as well as printed collateral (i.e. media kits, program one-sheets, etc.). They create brand identities for SmartSource programs through logos as designs, produce in-store sell sheets, art-direct photo shoots, maintain image databases and work with sales support teams in presenting the company image internally.
The department is located in the New York office.
Strategic Sales and Marketing Development- This group works closely with the sales teams to develop account and client specific approaches. They provide support and ideas, including using existing data to design ROI models and developing content, for client-specific presentations and meetings. They manage the existing portfolio by collaborating with internal departments to develop product enhancements, field questions from sales regarding the installation and production of In-Store programs, and develop and launch new products and product extension. The SS&M department is located in the Wilton, CT and New York office.
